			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A powerful suicide blast ripped through the crowded Emergency Ward of District Headquarters Hospital here Tuesday, killing at least 23 people and wounding another 20, IGP NWFP Malik Naveed told reporters. The blast took place when activists of a religious sect and relatives of victim, Basit Shah who was shot dead by unknown gunmen near Faqiri gate here were gathered at gate of Emergency Ward of the hospital to protest the cold blooded murder, he added. However independence sources claimed that 25 people were killed and as many injured in the deadly explosion.<br />

<p>The Islamic Republic of Pakistan was then created by the partition of Hindu-dominated India.</p>
<p>In Karachi, a ceremony was held by military cadets at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Mohammed Ali Jinnah, Pakistan&#8217;s founder.<br />
