Kashmir bus service resumes

By admin | August 21, 2008

The Kashmir bus service resumed after a lapse of one-week when a bus carrying sixty-one passengers left Srinagar for Muzaffarabad Thursday morning. Officials said in Srinagar, fifty-eight passengers out of sixty-one were stuck up due to suspension of the service as massive agitation gripped the Kashmir valley against economic blockade imposed by Hindu extremists.

Media reports quoting officials said today’s bus was a special arrangement to clear the backlog. However, the fortnightly bus service will also ply as scheduled on August 28.

Recently, Pakistan and India have decided to make this bus service weekly instead of fortnightly.
