Indian Army admits involvement of its personnel in human rights violations in IHK

The Indian Army while admitting that its personnel are involved in human rights violations in occupied Kashmir said punitive action was taken against 80 personnel.
Media reports quoting General Officer commanding Srinagar-based 15 corps, Lt Gen Mukesh Sabarwal speaking at a seminar in Srinagar said 26 accusations of human rights abuses against the troops have been found true and 80 defaulters have been punished ranging from dismissal to ten years rigorous imprisonment.
He said the army personnel involved in human rights violations would not be spared.
He said troops will carry “People friendly operations”, use of minimum force or minimum collateral damage and zero tolerance of Human Rights Violations.
Meanwhile, Kashmiri leaders including leaders belonging to All Parties Hurriyat Conference said thousands of unnamed graves have been found in IHK. Thousands of missing persons could not be traced and innocent Kashmiris are being tortured in jails, they added.
